Heartbreak

How many ways can I tell you
The way I feel for you?
My love a perpetual ocean
Ever flowing, true
For you
My dilemma is not my love for you
Do I love you too much?
Do I love you enough?
I wonder sometimes
If life is passing me by
Winter after winter
Slowly
Am I missing something?
Can I get what I’m missing
With someone other than you?
Anticipation of isolation
Scares me
Yet I ponder the kiss of liberation
Its appeal
A potentially toxic situation
Suspended between love and life
Simply at the thought
My body reacts as if I’ve received
Medusa’s stare
This love for you keeps me immobilized
I can see life on the horizon
Beckoning me
But I don’t want us
To settle amongst the jagged rocks
Of relationships lost.
